You can send money, you can send a barrel, but you can't post a fresh yellow yam from Brooklyn or Brampton. For a lot of families abroad, that's the missing piece. Mummy has rice and tin mackerel in the cupboard, but Saturday soup needs yam, banana, pumpkin and a good bunch of thyme. Fresh produce boxes fix that: you order from wherever you live, and the food comes from Jamaican farms and markets straight to your family's gate.

The quick answer

  • Yes, you can send fresh ground provisions to family in Jamaica from the USA, UK or Canada.
  • The produce is sourced in Jamaica and delivered locally, so nothing crosses a border and nothing sits on a wharf.
  • Pick a small everyday box or a big soup-and-stew box from our Care Packages & Bundles.
  • Pay by card or PayPal in USD, CAD, GBP or JMD. The delivery fee is shown in the cart before you pay.

Our two produce boxes

Fresh Ground Produce Box: J$3,200

The Fresh Ground Produce Box is about 5.5 lb of everyday cooking vegetables:

  • Tomato: 1 lb
  • Onion: 1 lb
  • Cabbage: 1 lb
  • Pumpkin: 1 lb
  • Carrot: 1 lb
  • Escallion: Β½ lb

It suits one or two people, a parent who lives alone, or a top-up between bigger shops. Steam cabbage, stew peas, a pot of rice and peas with a little pumpkin: this box covers the vegetables for a week of ordinary cooking.

Soup & Stew Produce Feast: J$16,000

The Soup & Stew Produce Feast is the big one, about 27.5 lb:

  • Yam: 6 lb
  • Sweet potato: 5 lb
  • Green banana: 5 lb
  • Pumpkin: 3 lb
  • Carrot: 2 lb
  • Onion: 2 lb
  • Cabbage: 2 lb
  • Tomato: 1Β½ lb
  • Escallion: Β½ lb
  • Thyme: 1 bunch
  • Scotch bonnet: 1 handful

That's a proper Jamaican soup pot, a few Sunday dinners and plenty of boiled food for breakfast with ackee or mackerel. It's a good fit for a big household, a family gathering, or a nine night or birthday where people will be eating.

How freshness works

Fresh produce in Jamaica follows the morning harvest and the market. That means:

  • Substitutions can happen. If an item isn't available when we pack, we contact you on WhatsApp for a fresh substitute or a refund. We don't quietly swap things.
  • Sizes vary. Yam and pumpkin don't come in standard sizes, so boxes are packed by weight.
  • Use the soft items first. Tomato, cabbage, escallion and thyme should be cooked in the first several days. Yam, sweet potato, pumpkin and onion keep longer in a cool, dry spot. Green banana ripens over time, so cook it while it's still green if you want it boiled.

Pair produce with staples for a complete shop

Produce on its own doesn't make a meal. Most families pair a produce box with pantry items:

  • Produce + Yard Box: a Taste of Yard Care Package or Family Pantry Care Package brings rice, tin fish, corned beef, seasoning and crackers.
  • Produce + bulk staples: the Family Staples Bulk Bundle (J$15,400) brings 50 lb rice, 25 lb each of flour, sugar and cornmeal, and a tray of 30 eggs. Add a produce box and the kitchen is set.
  • Produce + meat: add chicken, soup meat or oxtail from the store for Sunday dinner.

How to order fresh produce for family

  1. Add the produce box (and anything else) to your bag.
  2. Change the currency to USD, CAD or GBP if you like.
  3. At checkout, enter your relative's address with a clear landmark, plus a Jamaican phone number they answer.
  4. Choose the delivery or pickup option for their parish. Free pickup is available in May Pen and Kingston.
  5. Pay by card, PayPal, bank transfer or Cash App.

Tip: tell your family the produce is coming so someone is home to take it in and put the tomatoes and greens away quickly.

Who this is good for

  • Elderly parents who can't easily get to market or carry heavy bags of yam.
  • Grandparents raising grandchildren who need to stretch the food budget.
  • Family preparing for an event and needing a lot of food at once.
  • Anyone abroad who wants their money to go on real food, not on bills.

The bottom line

A barrel can't carry fresh yam, but you can still put it on your family's table. Pick the Fresh Ground Produce Box for everyday cooking or the Soup & Stew Produce Feast for a full pot, add staples if you need them, and we'll deliver it in Jamaica.
